The Film — The Tulsa Sound

For the purpose of telling the story of The Tulsa Sound as fully as possible, we’ve divided it into four parts:

PART ONE: THE BEGINNING

This part talks about the birth of Rock 'n' Roll in Tulsa, and how guys like JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Bill Pair, and Johnny Williams figured into it. Where did they come from? Why did they do it? How did they go over?

pART TWO: THE EXODUS

This section follows the boys as they travel out West and their influence on the music of the time from arranging, to songwriting, to studio work, to the bands they played in.

pART THREE: THE RETURN

This section deals with the Tulsa scene that was ignited by the return of Leon and many of the rest of the boys from California. In this segment, we want to talk about what it was like in Tulsa then, with the birth of Church Studios and the revitalization of the Tulsa Sound.

PART FOUR: THE LEGACY

Here's where we talk about the lasting effect these guys had on popular music, not only in Tulsa but around the world.
